One day, a dog owner went to the local pastor to announce the death of his dog and to request for a burial service. ‘I am afraid we don’t do services for animals in my church’, says the pastor, ‘but there’s a new church down the road, and only God knows what they believe in,’ he continued. ‘I reckon they could help. You can try your luck there.’ ’ Thanks, Pastor! I’ll go right away’, said the dog owner. ‘But’, he asked again innocently, ‘Pastor, do you think they’ll accept a donation of £250,000 as enough fee for the burial service? The pastor exclaimed, ‘sweet Jesus! Why didn’t you tell me your dog was a christian………..?
God would not have let that bad thing happen to you unless it were to be used to your advantage.
Wow. That’s a particularly stupid bit of Christian gibberish. If someone is raped, or sucked into a wood chipper, of drowned in a flood, or eaten by a komodo dragon… Then God let it happen for your advantage?
What kind of asshole God do these people believe in?
The Louvin Brothers - I like the Christian Life
What a great song :)
“Their songs were heavily influenced by their Baptist faith and warned against sin. Ira Louvin was notorious for his drinking and short temper. Married four times, his third wife shot him multiple times in the chest and hand after he allegedly beat her. Although seriously injured, he survived. When performing and drinking, Ira would sometimes become angry enough on stage to smash his mandolin; otherwise his style was heavily influenced by Bill Monroe. He died on June 20, 1965 when a drunken driver struck his car in Williamsburg, Missouri. At the time, a warrant for Ira’s arrest had been issued on a DUI charge.” - Wikipedia
The Louvin Brothers - human just like the rest of us.
Sick of the stereotypes
Yes, I’m a 17 year old girl. Yes, I’m a Christian. No, I’m not an airheaded idiot who refuses to look at the facts
- I’m studying theology at A-Level, and I’m going on to do it at university
- I’ve read plenty of books both for/against God and Christianity
- I don’t claim to be the font of all knowledge concerning God
- I do not hate gays, and neither does God
- I’m fascinated by science
- My upbringing is not paramount to brainwashing - My mother’s Methodist, my Dad’s Atheist. I could have gone whichever way I chose
- I respect everybody’s views
- I would never dream of trying to force my beliefs on anyone
- I do not believe that every none-Christian is going to burn in Hell eternally
Thank heavens for that. Hallelujah, sister.
“We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, “I know him”, but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did."
